After graduating from the Gemmology Institute of America in Santa Monica, Greek-born Ileana Makri launched her fine jewellery label in 1996. Multicultural symbols are a recurring theme in the designer’s collections, taking inspiration from her extensive travels, family heritage and Ancient Grecian mythology. This include the evil eye symbol, which is thought to ward off negative forces in Mediterranean countries. The label’s rock-chic aesthetic is seen in the selection of colourful gemstones and diamonds intricately embellishing 18kt-gold earrings, necklaces and rings.
