TRAVEL focus

AMSTERDAM

stay

Set in the very heart of Amsterdam’s Museum Square district in the former musical institute, the Conservatorium hotel is the perfect base from which to explore this unique city. Repeatedly voted the Netherlands’ best hotel, it is surrounded by museums, galleries and the city’s finest shops. For those who don’t wish to venture far, the Art Nouveau building is also home to restaurants, bars and the renowned Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre, which offers a private Hammam, watsu pool and whirlpool sauna for a luxurious inner-city retreat. conservatoriumhotel.com

dine

Housed in a converted nursery, originally built in 1926, the soaring glass canopy of Amsterdam’s De Kas restaurant is a fitting location for the seasonal produce which is grown on-site. The greenhouse and gardens surrounding the property are tended to by Michelin-starred chef Gert-Jan Hageman, who founded the restaurant in 2001. Modern, invigorating dining in an equally refreshing setting. restaurantdekas.nl
