New York-based lingerie label Hanky Panky was founded in 1977, after Parsons School of Design alumna Gale Epstein sewed a bra and briefs set out of an embroidered Victorian-era handkerchief as a gift for her friend Lida Orzeck. The two decided to go into business together, and in 1986 the brand reached cult status following the introduction of their signature lace thongs. Keep an eye out for dainty underpinnings in a multitude of jewel tones, expertly manufactured in the USA.
