‘Re-envisaging the lost treasures of the Mediterranean’ is how Alona Shelemy characterises her jewellery label By Alona, launched in 2011 after she graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in New York. As the daughter of a fine jeweller, the designer had early exposure to precious stones and settings that now underscore her creations, coupled with inspiration from her Middle Eastern and European heritage. Pieces are crafted in London with 18kt gold plating and finished with baroque pearls.
