Alison Lousada

Alison Lousada specialises in contemporary ceramics that celebrate the raw form of natural materials with a culturally informed narrative. Lousada spent 15 years as a printed textiles designer working for the likes of Stella McCartney and Clements Ribeiro before launching her own studio in 2016, citing African and Japanese ceramic art and 1970s German studio pottery as key sources of inspiration. Each piece is fired in the kiln multiple times to intensify the by-product of intense heat and pressure, producing intriguing layers of burnished marks, brush strokes and hardened globules across classical curvature.
