Etro was founded in 1968 by Gerolamo ‘Gimmo’ Etro who, along with his antiques-dealer wife, Roberta, collected around 300 vintage shawls – beginning an obsession with characterful fabrics that continues to stoke the inspirational furnace of the family-run Milanese label to this day. A kaleidoscope of signature swirling paisleys, florals and stripes pattern everything from bohemian gowns, free-spirited kaftans and flared trousers to statement scarves and eye-catching swimwear. Today, creative director Marco De Vincenzo continues to dip into the house’s eclectic archives to create impeccably Italian-crafted collections that celebrate the elegance of individuality.
