Dr. Martens was launched in 1960 by the Griggs family, who bought an exclusive license to an earlier pioneering combat style, altering the shape and adding the hallmark yellow stitching and chunky Airwair soles that are so recognisable today. Since their inception, the durable leather shoes have become a cult favourite with rock musicians and punks alike, veering away from their workwear heritage and becoming an expression of personal style and rebellion.
