The pendant suspending from Alighieri’s 24kt gold-plated Il Leone necklace is based on an antique Venetian coin and symbolises courage and strength – a motif taken from Dante’s 1320 epic poem Divine Comedy. It’s cast from a wax mould in Hatton Garden, London’s jewellery capital.
