Visvim
An encyclopaedic knowledge of craftsmanship and folk culture led Hiroki Nakamura to launch Visvim in 2001, combining rugged Americana style with artisanal Japanese traditions. The designer has travelled through Alaska, Lapland, New Mexico and Amami Island in South Japan, exploring the rural landscapes and learning from indigenous locals to gain an insight into their lifestyles. These experiences influence the label today, demonstrated through styles such as the FBT trainers – a moccasin with a beaded fringed collar inspired by the footwear of Finland’s Sami people. Other pieces that define the ‘future vintage’ aesthetic include distressed denim jackets, earth-toned basics and warming outerwear.
